I am Lanzhi Wang, an artist shaped by a global journey—born in China, nurtured artistically in Japan, and now rooted in the United States. My creative expression is deeply influenced by the traditions and natural beauty of the places I’ve called home: from the cherry blossoms of Nagasaki to the golden poppy fields of California.
My academic path has taken me through degrees in Social Work, English Studies, and International Tourism, eventually leading to a passion-fueled focus on Studio Art. I studied ceramics in China’s legendary regions of Jingdezhen, Dehua, and Liling, and continued refining my skills in Washington, California, and Florida. My multicultural background allows me to create art that feels both timeless and borderless.
I work across multiple mediums—painting, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media—with a special love for hand-built ceramics and intricate, symbolic illustrations. My ceramic techniques include electric, gas, and wood-fired kilns, as well as traditional raku and soda firing.
My works often incorporate Japanese aesthetics, including elements of Ikebana and the Tea Ceremony, both of which echo in the serenity and intentionality of my pieces. My 3D design “Drawer of Time” uses recycled objects to reflect on memory, impermanence, and rebirth—recurring themes throughout my portfolio.
As the founder of the First Annual West Palm Beach Lantern Festival, I’ve also merged art with community, offering workshops and cultural events that celebrate creativity, tradition, and togetherness.
Through my art, I seek to capture moments that too often slip away—a breeze through cherry blossoms, a beam of sun on a hillside trail, a treasured object forgotten in a drawer.
I believe in art as a bridge: between past and present, between cultures, and between people. Each piece I create is an invitation—to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the world’s quiet beauty. I hope my work inspires others to cherish the fleeting and find meaning in the seemingly ordinary.
Ultimately, my vision is to preserve stories, evoke wonder, and create timeless beauty from the rhythms of life itself.
